So today was the day I was to go on the ship. Everything was going well and I was in line and happy when I approached the people who stop to check your id before you go on the ship. I said my name and they look up the info and ask if I lost my passport. I replied “I don’t think so” and proceeded to check my belongings when I realized I did no have it. Luckily they did have it and gave it to me. Everything went relatively smoothly except for my SAS id not work to which I had to go and get it fixed. The ship is real sweet, my room is kinda cramped but it’s okay b/c I have my own personal crew member who makes my bed and gives me new towels. They say we are not supposed to take food from the cafeteria to prevent ants or bugs from getting into the cabins. I don’t see how this is possible since we’re in the middle of the ocean, and have made it a habit to take a few pieces of fruit each meal .

We had a bunch of orientation stuff that basically told us all the stuff that we already were required to read. We also got to watch the inauguration which was nice. I went weightlifting for the first time. I did not think it would be as difficult as it was(the swaying of the boat made me move back and forth as well as increase and decrease the weight of the weight). Tomorrow I have my 8 oclock class, however we lost an hour due to time zones so I am fortunate enough to have class really at 7. Basically, this will continue for the next 6 days so it is like we have 23 hour days. I am going running on the treadmill shortly, which judging by the difficulty of weightlifting should be not an easy feat. Also, to celebrate the inauguration of Obama we are allowed to have Champagne, only it’s non-alcholoic---gay.

So today during my Econ class we were going over some random things when everyone started to look out of the windows. Outside in the dark blue ocean there were several fountains of water emerging from the sea. These fountains turned out to be whales blowing out of their blow holes. It was real cool. Also, playing basketball is really hard and the sunsets our breathtaking.
